Religious Education Programs

Religious Education - Grades 1 - 8

This program offers opportunities for faith growth through catechesis to children in the parish, grades 1 - 8, who attend public schools.  It assists the parents in fulfilling their right as primary religious educators of their children.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word is a worship experience geared especially for children ages 6-10.  It is a special opportunity for children to understand and appreciate Scripture at Sunday Mass.  Children’s Liturgy of the Word offers an experience for children to hear Scripture in words they understand and to share their own understanding of God's word.  The program is available to all children, ages 6 – 10, who are in attendance at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday Liturgy.

Little Rock Scripture Study

This program is offered in the fall and spring.  Its purpose is to lead people to a greater understanding of the Bible, an awareness of God’s living presence in Sacred Scripture, and an appreciation of how the Bible can be applied to daily life.  This scripture program includes personal study, small group discussion, lecture and prayer.

GLADD (Giving Love Apostolate of the Developmentally Disabled)

The St. John Brebeuf GLADD program was formed to help the Developmentally Disabled  feel welcomed in the Christian community.   The ratio for students and teacher is one-to-one.  GLADD serves students of various ages and with all forms of special needs and their families through education and celebration in our faith community.  As part of the program, we prepare the students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Special needs, contact Lois Kozeny.

Joy In Jesus Sunday Pre-School Program

The Sunday morning pre-school program provides pre-school age children with a basic foundation and understanding of the Christian faith, and an awareness of their place in the Christian community. The program is open to children ages 3 ½ through kindergarten. Classes are held in the school classrooms during the 10:45 AM Mass from October through April.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – RCIA

RCIA is bringing the “Good News” alive in the modern world. The RCIA describes a process in which men and women are guided and cared for as they awaken in faith and are gradually introduced to the Catholic way of life. The RCIA process is a series of stages, marked by liturgical rites in the presence of the whole community, in which new Catholics embark on and join us in a continuing and deepening conversion into faith and discipleship.
